However, being true to my craft, I decided to review the Song Lyrics template from the Fun section.

How Can Copy.ai Be Better? Room for Improvement:

Now that I have listed all the pros, I must also disclose the cons of Copy.ai. Especially when I had heard such good things about it. It was a result of my experience as a first-time user. Something that you may go through as well if you have never used it before.

While on the dashboard, double-clicking on a template option to open it does nothing but activate a violet-colored button at the bottom, saying “Start New Project”. This feels confusing and clunky from a UX perspective. The correct thing to do here would be to allow a user to simply double-click on a template to open it.

Additionally, I was not impressed by so many grayed-out buttons, which give you a feeling of being trapped on a page unless the correct input is entered. This dangerously treads on the boundary of making your users exert far too much cognitive effort at a time when they are trying to concentrate on writing content.

These issues do not happen after the initial login, although after a lot of not-so-intuitive poking and prodding I developed an understanding of where everything was located on the screen.
Knowing what I know now, I would definitely recommend looking past the quality of UI and considering that it offers such a high quality of content at such a low cost.

Another area where Copy.ai struggled in my opinion was, long-form content generation. There were laps in context and a significant amount of repetition when I tried to generate content in bulk. Additionally, there were sentences in the output copy which were factually incorrect, however, I would not attribute that to Copy.ai itself but to the machine learning model that it uses, which needs further training. And I would always recommend a rigorous fact-check anyway.

Overall I think this is just the start of the fourth industrial revolution and we are yet to see the true power of Artificial Intelligence, however, replacing actual human writers may seem a little far away.
